According to British media reports on August 27, a homeless man beat a woman with a mallet just a few days after she connected him to an apartment worth 1.3 million pounds (approximately RMB 12.52 million). The photo of this person was exposed for the first time.
Apapalai Adum, 39, faces life in prison after pleading guilty to killing Victoria Adams at her home in Hammersmith, west London, on February 9.
Police were called to the scene after an attempt to break into a house on Coulter Road and found Ms Adams lying face down in her bedroom with a black garbage bag over her head and a pillow over her head. She suffered at least 10 separate scarring wounds on the back and side of her head, allegedly a wooden scarring with blood and DNA found on the murder weapon.
Adam met Mrs. Adams on February 6, three days before the incident, while she was still living in the Wanderers' Refuge. Mrs. Adams invited him to reside at his home, but later wrote a note asking him to leave.
Adoum was arrested at the crime scene and initially charged with two counts of possession of an offensive weapon. He was sentenced to 42 weeks in prison after pleading guilty.
However, on June 5, he was arrested again for alleged murder after detectives linked him to Mrs. Adams’s death.
On Tuesday, Adum appeared at the Old Bailey Court to acknowledge his murder guilt. He was arrested and now faces life imprisonment. Judge Nigel Likley told the defendant: “The punishment for murder is life imprisonment, and I will be sentenced on October 24.”
Detective Chief Inspector Matt Danby, who is in charge of the Metropolitan Police investigation, said today: "I hope Adum's plea will provide some relief to Victoria's family and friends."
It was a tragedy that Victoria was killed by him when Adum was in need and treated him kindly. Victoria should have been treated better.
Adum's admission of guilt demonstrated the police's relentless effort to gather evidence against him, undoubtedly confirming his responsibility for Victoria's death.
