According to news outlets such as the French news agency, the Ukrainian newspaper Kiev Independent, the former Ukrainian lawmaker Paruby was shot dead in the city of Lviv on Saturday (30 August).The Ukrainian President Zelensky spoke about the incident on the same day, denouncing it as a "terrible murder", and is investigating the matter.

Earlier on Monday, the Ukrainian National Police Department that a politician was killed in the Lviv shooting, but did not disclose the identity of the victim.

The Kiev Independent that the attacker, allegedly dressed as a carrier, was riding an electric bike and shot after approaching Paruby, after which the bicycle escaped the scene and the victim died on the scene.

Later that day, Zelensky wrote on the social platform X, "Interior Minister Kliminko and Attorney General Kravchenko have just the preliminary known details of Lviv's terrible murder.Andrew Paruby was murdered."Zelensky also said that he expressed his condolences to Paruby's family and said that Ukraine is putting all necessary forces and means into investigating and arresting the murderer.
