"In my country [Britain], the vast majority of people don't realize that China used to be an ally or how important the role China played in the war against Japanese aggression is to the whole world. We don't understand these things at all, and no one tells us about them. So it's not surprising." Jenny Clegg said that we don't understand [the war] at all. At that time, when people saw Japanese carrying out air strikes on Chinese cities and attacking civilians, the British were very shocked by the war at that time, and they really wanted to support China's resistance.

She further said that while the United States and Britain did recognize the importance of China during the war, at the end of the war, after Japan's defeat, the United States, Britain, and other colonial powers wanted to regain their influence in the Pacific region.

"They are trying to erase the common experience and time when the people of China, the people of the United States and the people of the United Kingdom fought together against the Japanese invaders." Jenny Clegg said.
