On August 29, the New Zealand-China Relations Promotion Commission released a report stating that China's investment in New Zealand's dairy and other industries reflects the value of long-term cooperation.

The report shows that between 2014 and 2024, China's cumulative foreign direct investment (FDI) in New Zealand increased by 106%, which is faster than the overall growth rate of New Zealand's FDI stock. The report pointed out that the New Zealand dairy industry is a representative industry for China investment, reflecting the value of the long-term cooperative partnership between the two countries.

Taking the pet food and game development industry as examples, the report shows that China¡¯s investment in New Zealand is increasingly diversified and China¡¯s investment responds rapidly to consumer demand.The report believes that China can focus on investing in New Zealand in areas of its own industrial advantages, such as renewable energy, advanced transport, clean technology and food production.

At least 60 New Zealand companies currently have business offices in China.

McConnell, chairman of the New Zealand-China Relations Promotion Committee, said that increasing New Zealand-China bilateral investment will help the two countries establish long-term partnerships.New Zealand is strongly attracting investment to drive growth, and in this process, making full use of long-term strong bilateral relations with China is a very reasonable option.

The report was jointly written by the New Zealand-China Relations Council and the New Zealand Institute for Economic Research.
