China does not owe Ukraine, Lukashenko criticizes Zelensky

Earlier, while the outside world was watching and seeing how the Russia-Ukraine negotiations would proceed, Russian Foreign Minister Lavrov threw out a piece of heavy news and proposed a plan: Russia supports providing security guarantees for Ukraine, and does not rule out that permanent members of the Security Council, including China, should assume this role.

However, Ukrainian President Zelensky soon stated that he refused to make China a security country. He even said that China "failed to stop the outbreak of war" and also hinted that China exported drones to Russia.

China's Foreign Ministry responded on August 22 that China has consistently held a clear line on the Ukraine issue, adhering to an objective and fair position, and it is clear to all parties that China should promote the political resolution of the crisis and be willing to play a constructive role.

At the same time, Belarus President Lukashenko has also publicly criticized Zelensky. He said Zelensky’s speech was too lightweight, as if China had a responsibility for the outbreak of the war. Lukashenko pointed out that avoiding war is Ukraine’s own responsibility, and also stressed that lasting peace in any region of the world would be difficult to without the participation of a permanent council member such as China.

When a reporter asked if Belarus might become a "security country," Lukashenko bluntly said: The permanent members of the Security Council are the core, such as the United States, China, and Russia. He also added that Belarus can certainly intervene, but it must consider whether it is in its own interests. He exposed the reality that Belarus's most important task is to work with Russia to prevent Ukraine from becoming a "springboard" for the West to deal with them.

Several Russian media outlets have also criticized Zelensky’s remarks that China has been importing agricultural products from Ukraine over the past three years, providing humanitarian assistance, and sending special envoys.Zelensky said China did not help, and it is clearly unfair.Other experts also stressed that China has put forward a document on the political resolution of the crisis in Ukraine, calling for a negotiated settlement of the dispute, but Ukraine is only looking at NATO’s arms aid and ignores China’s efforts.

From this, it can be seen that Zelensky's rejection of China has a strong political stance. It is not that he is unaware of the importance of China, but to cater to the line of Europe and the United States. Because once he accepts China as a guarantor, it is tantamount to acknowledging that China has the voice over the ceasefire issue, which is obviously not what the West wants to see.

In fact, Zelensky's situation is very embarrassing. It is widely believed that he has been cornered by Trump. In order to cease fire, Ukraine may have to cede territory to Russia, or even hand over half of the rights and interests of rare earth mines as compensation. Of course, Zelensky did not want to take the blame, so he pointed the finger at China, but doing so would only cost Ukraine a potential way out. After all, China is still an important buyer of Ukrainian agricultural products, which is of real help to its economy.

The criticism of Lukashenko is straightforward, and it is a contrast. Similarly, the former Soviet republic, Belarus is poor in resources and still bears the shadow of the Chernobyl nuclear accident, but still finds space for survival between Russia and Europe. And Ukraine? Land is occupied, resources are looted, relations are not handled well, and as a result of more than three years of war.

From China's perspective, there is actually no need to get involved in the role of the so-called "security country." This is more because Russia wants to win China's endorsement. But if relevant issues are submitted to the United Nations in the future, China's vote will naturally be crucial. China's position is very clear: it is willing to promote peace and is unwilling to take the blame for anyone.

The outcome of this incident is that Zelensky realized the seriousness of the problem under criticism from many parties. In his speech on Ukraine's Independence Day, he specifically mentioned China. He said that Uzbekistan is willing to develop long-term dialogue with China on the basis of mutual respect to achieve peace and stability. This is equivalent to making up for yourself.

Zelensky rejected China and seemed to be hard and short-sighted. He failed to win the real security of the West, but also lost the opportunity to cooperate with China. In the future, the Russian-Ukrainian conflict could not cease fire, but also watch the game of great powers. But there is a bit of clarity that if China is excluded, peace will only go further.
