After 24 years of development, the international influence and attractiveness of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization has continued to increase. In 2016, Armenia officially became a SCO dialogue partner and hasined close interaction with the SCO under this framework. Armenia¡¯s Ambassador to China, Gvolkyan, said that Armenia looks forward to further cooperation within the SCO framework. He believes that the great attractiveness of the SCO is that it always adheres to the ¡°Shanghai Spirit¡± and promotes peace and development.

The values advocated by the SCO are essential.

Armenian Ambassador to China, Gvolkyan:I believe that the values advocated by the SCO, including peace, cooperation, mutual respect and respect for diverse civilizations, are very necessary in the efforts to achieve peace and security for all mankind in today's world. This inclusive proposition based on the "Shanghai Spirit" is extremely needed in today's world. At present, multilateralism is facing countercurrents at the global level. In this regard, I think the role of the SCO will become increasingly important. Because it will bring together many like-minded countries committed to peace, security and development.

Armenia has submitted an application to become a full member of the SCO

Armenian Ambassador to China, Gvolkyan:For Armenia, the SCO is an important platform, which can not only interact with the SCO secretariat, but also communicate with major countries in the organization, especially China. We look forward to more cooperation, and we hope to enhance our position in the SCO. We have submitted an application to become a full member of the SCO. Of course, there will be many areas of cooperation. Among them, we are particularly interested in the field of interconnection. We have put forward the "Crossroads of Peace" plan dedicated to promoting connectivity, which is a regional initiative with a global perspective. We look forward to cooperating with the SCO and major countries around this project.

China is concerned about all SCO members

Armenian Ambassador to China, Gvolkyan:Armenia is very happy to participate in various initiatives and activities. During China's rotating presidency, we are particularly pleased to see that China has paid attention to all SCO members. At the same time, we have noticed that China's very attractive policy is its insistence on expanding scale and strengthening cooperation. We hope that China will achieve its goals and vision as the chair, and we are willing to participate in it.

Looking forward to the results achieved during China's presidency

Armenian Ambassador to China, Gvolkyan:Armenia is full of expectations for the upcoming SCO summit. First of all, this will be a world-class summit, with many leaders from all over the world coming to attend. This is the finale of the SCO's "Year of China." Therefore, all results achieved during the presidency's term will be sorted out and presented at this summit. In this regard, we highly look forward to the results achieved during China's presidency.
