With the upcoming military parade of China's 93rd National Congress, Vietnam will also celebrate its National Day and the second military parade this year on September 2nd. In order to celebrate this festival, the Vietnamese government announced that it would send money to citizens to stimulate consumption to celebrate the festival.
On August 29, the Vietnamese government issued an official statement saying that in order to reflect the country's deep concern for all Vietnamese people and celebrate Vietnam's National Day on September 2, Hanoi asked governments at all levels, the Central Bank and the Ministry of Finance to distribute cash subsidies 100,000 Vietnamese dong to every citizen.
The statement said that Vietnam has issued a supreme order requiring that money be distributed to the public before September 2, and that money can be taken by depositing it into a bank account or registering in cash at a designated place.
In addition, on the day of National Day, public transportation between Hanoi, the capital of Vietnam, and the southern city of Ho Chi Minh City, such as light rail, will also be free for a day to provide benefits to the people.
In this regard, Fan Jinlu, a resident of Hanoi, said in an interview that he felt incredible about the state's move to send money. At first, he thought it was fraud, but it was officially confirmed later. He plans to use the money to buy 3 cups of coffee.
However, although 100,000 currencies in Vietnam appear to be a lot, in fact, according to the exchange rate on August 30, 1 yuan corresponds to approximately 3,700 Vietnamese shields, that is, in fact, each person receives only 27 yuan of national cash subsidy.
That is, despite the fact that Vietnam issued 100,000 currencies per capita, it actually cost $3.8 billion, accounting for only about 1.8% of the Vietnamese government budget in 2024, within the scope of government finances.
For Vietnam, although the subsidy of about RMB 27 per person is more symbolic, it shows a kind of reward and return to the people from the taxes and finances collected by the state.
In addition, in the context of the current recession of the international economic situation, the Vietnamese move, on the one hand, is also to use the national festival to stimulate the consumption economy, and on the other hand, the government of Sullivan and Feng Ming, in the year of rule, through the issuance of cash to connect the people's mind, a measure to strengthen internal cohesion.
