On August 29, local time, the Constitutional Court of Thailand ruled that the suspension of the prime minister's post in the corresponding practice in the conversation with the Cambodian Senate president Hunson violated the relevant provisions of the constitution, dismissing him from the prime minister's office from the moment.
Following the ruling of the Constitutional Court, Petenthan held a press conference in the Prime Minister's Palace, expressing his acceptance of the court's ruling.However, he reiterated that his original intention was for the national interest and that his most important thing was always the lives of the people. He hoped that all parties could unite and restore political stability in the future.
On 16 August 2024, Pete Thunberg was elected as the new Prime Minister of Thailand. In mid-June this year, a recording of a call with the Cambodian Senate President Hunton about the situation on the Thai border leaked, sparking controversy in Thailand. The Thai Constitutional Court announced on 1 July that it had accepted a petition to investigate the existence of unconstitutional acts by Prime Minister Pete Thunberg and immediately suspended Pete Thunberg’s exercise of prime minister’s powers.
