Iranian man in search of stimulation, jumping from a boat to a whale shark surfing and dancing relentlessly, catching a shark and gliding

According to British media reports on August 28, an Iranian thrill seeker surfed on the back of a shark and danced recklessly, and the audience slammed him for "abusing" and "harassing" the giant creature.

The shocking video spread widely on the Internet, filmed near the drilling platform of Iran’s Offshore Oil Company. An open source intelligence platform X account released the video in 2023, accompanied by the following: “In the waters near Abadan in the Persian Gulf, next to the oil drilling platform, a local man was photographed jumping from a boat to a whale shark, dancing and riding on it.”

In the video, a man is seen jumping from a boat into the sea, approaching the creature reportedly a whale shark, which is widely regarded as a very docile species to humans. Then he grabbed the shark's fin like a dolphin's fin.

When the giant fish moved slightly, he climbed onto the shark's back and stabilized his balance. When he stood still, he danced arrogantly and high-fived on the massive creature, while the whale shark seemed very calm and undisturbed. When he couldn't stand still, he sat on the shark's back and let the shark slide under him.

Audiences on social media quickly condemned the stunt, with one user writing: "It's terrible. Whale sharks are gentle and not threatening at all. They only eat plankton. Why would he harass such a magical animal?"

Another fumed: "As an animal lover, I was disgusted to see this man jumping on a whale shark and abusing it."

But a third user defended the man, writing: "If the shark didn't like it, it would have gone deeper [in the sea]." Another quipped: "Let the man have a hobby."

Meanwhile, a surfer in Australia has miraculously emerged unscathed after being attacked by a shark. A 13-foot great white shark ripped a large chunk from his surfboard at Kabarita Beach, NSW. Surfer Brad Ross was enjoying an early wave when the beast pounced.

A video shared on social media showed him struggling in the water and then disappearing underwater. A moment later, he surfaced again and struggled to swim to safety.

Meanwhile, in the Bahamas, an American tourist was recently attacked by a shark while fishing. Police said the 63-year-old tourist was "seriously injured" in the attack.

The tourist was urgently sent to a local clinic for treatment and then airported to the United States for further treatment. While there are shark outbreaks in the Caribbean waters, shark attacks on humans are relatively rare.

According to the International Archive of Shark Attacks, only 34 shark attacks have been confirmed in the Bahamas in the past 400 years.
