The newspaper reporter, Guo Huan.

"Russian Navy and Chinese Navy submarines conducted underwater joint patrols in Pacific waters for the first time." The Russian Satellite News Agency reported on the 27th that the Russian Pacific Fleet News Service released news on the same day that Russian and Chinese diesel-electric submarines participated in joint patrols in the Asia-Pacific region for the first time. Experts interviewed by the Global Times reporter believe that this move has important strategic deterrent significance.

According to the report, the Russian-Chinese underwater patrol began in early August, after the two sides held the “Maritime Joint 2025” joint exercise. The Russian Pacific Fleet’s diesel-electric submarine “Wolf” and the Chinese People’s Liberation Army naval submarine carried out joint patrol along the agreed route in the Japan Sea and the East Sea.

China-Russia "Maritime Union 2025" joint exercises local time from August 1 to 5 in the airspace of the sea near Vladivostok, Russia. After the exercise, the Chinese Navy missile destroyer Shoshing Ships, the comprehensive supply ships Lake Ships and the Russian Navy "Tributz Navy General" large anti-submarine and three surface vessels and two ship-carrying helicopters formed a joint crew to organize a joint sea cruise in the western Pacific.

According to Chinese media reports, during the joint cruise, the Chinese and Russian troops participated in the exercise in close coordination and tacit cooperation, and completed joint search and rescue, joint supply, joint escort, and joint air defense drills in a rotating or joint command manner.

China's Defense Ministry spokesman Zhang Xiaoping said on Monday that China-Russia had recently successfully held "Maritime Joint 2025" exercises and joint cruises at sea.

Earlier, the Chinese and Russian Navy had conducted five joint cruises at sea. Military expert Zhang said in an interview with the Global Times on the 28th that according to the information released by the Russian side, this is another new form of joint maritime patrol introduced by the Chinese and Russian Navy after the joint patrol of surface ships.

The submarine is an important force in underwater hidden attacks, can carry a variety of weapons, constitute a deterrent to the enemy, and has an important strategic deterrent. Secondly, underwater joint patrol can improve the Chinese and Russian Navy's ability to apply submarine tactics, improve their respective Navy's underwater search, reconnaissance, attack and other operational capabilities, and help the Navy of the two countries to jointly respond to sea security threats, maintain regional peace and stability and maritime security. Third, from the tactical point of view of combat analysis, the two Navy's joint underwater patrol can further familiarize with the underwater battlefield environment, improve underwater combat capabilities.
