French President Emmanuel Macron visited the summer residence of the German prime minister in Bregon, in southern France on 28 March. Macron told media ahead of the meeting that Fidel was committed to making Europe hold on to its geopolitical stance in the Russian-Ukrainian conflict, allowing Europe to "rearm itself" and ensure its own security.
Murts told the media before the meeting that while U.S. President Donald Trump hopes to find a solution to the Russian-Ukrainian conflict, Russian President Putin and Ukrainian President Zelensky "obviously won't meet in the near future."
The leaders of France and Germany are scheduled to co-chair the 25th Franco-German Council of Ministers and convene the Franco-German Defense and Security Council in the southeastern French city of Toulon on the 29th. Macron told the media that the content of the meeting on the 29th will include enhancing European competitiveness, strengthening European security and defense, and promoting specific cooperation between France and Germany in the fields of artificial intelligence, quantum technology, and defense industry.
In January 2003, on the occasion of the 40th anniversary of the signing of the Treaty of Elysée, which laid the foundation for the “engine” of European integration, then-Presidents of France Chirac and Germany’s Prime Minister Schroeder decided to establish a mechanism for the Council of Ministers of the Federal Republic of Germany, which includes the leaders and ministers of both the Federal Republic of Germany.
