Brazilian government sources told the media on Monday that Brazil was considering retaliatory trade measures after U.S. President Donald Trump announced a 50% tariff on several Brazilian goods.
Brazilian President Lula has approved a study to assess whether and what retaliatory measures Brazil can take in response to Trump's punitive tariffs on Brazil, two government sources said.
Prior to the announcement, the Brazilian side has not issued any official information on this.
The U.S. government's policy to impose an additional tariff of 50% on some Brazilian products came into effect on 6th of this month. Lula has repeatedly said that these measures are damaging both the interests of Brazilian exporters and the rights of U.S. consumers.
