On April 27, 2025, Jade Damarell, a 32-year-old senior parachute jumping enthusiast, fell from a height of 15,500 feet (about 4,724 meters) while parachuting at Darlem, England. On August 21, local investigators determined that the tragedy was suicide, and the night before the incident, she had just ended her relationship with her eight-month boyfriend.

It is understood that Jade was born in Hong Kong, China, and lived in Caffey, Wales, as a market manager and also an experienced parachute lover, who has completed more than 400 parachute jumps.The day before the incident, she also successfully completed six parachute jumps, and the British Parachute Association's report confirmed that there was no fault in the parachute jumping equipment used on the day of the incident.

However, during the deadly parachute jump on April 27, Jade did not attempt to open the main parachute or start a spare automatic activator (AAD). The device was supposed to start automatically when the main parachute did not open and reached a certain height or speed, but the investigation found it was not turned on. At 8:30 in the morning, Jade was seen eating breakfast at the parachute center, her helmet was not installed as usual with a motion camera, and then she boarded the parachute at about 10 p.m. Finally, she fell to the back on a farm near the coal mining village of Shoton, and died at the scene of "severe injuries, including cranium fractures".

Investigators disclosed that at about 2:30 a.m. on the day of the incident, Jade left a number of note files, including a letter to her family that contained her financial account password. The letter also apologized to her family and thanked them for their continued support. Her 26-year-old boyfriend Ben Goodfellow, an automobile technician and musician, confirmed in his testimony that they "ended their love relationship" the night before the incident. It is reported that the couple met because of their common love of skydiving.

After the inquest, Jade's family issued a statement acknowledging and accepting the findings of the inquest. They described Jade as "an intelligent, beautiful, courageous and extraordinary man, full of energy, passion and love, who touched countless people with warmth and kindness."
