On August 27, local time, the Mexican Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Mexican Post Company jointly issued a statement announcing,All postal and parcel delivery services to the United States will be suspended from now on。
According to the statement, the reason for the suspension of services is that the United States will suspend tax-free treatment for imported parcels worth US $800 and less from August 29th, when small parcels will be subject to all applicable taxes and fees. This suspension measure will last until "the new operation process is clear".
Mexico's Ministry of Foreign Affairs said it is maintaining dialogue with U.S. authorities and the International Postal Organization to develop a mechanism for the orderly restoration of services, provide certainty for users and avoid delays in delivery of goods.
Besides Mexico, 25 countries, including Germany, Australia, Canada, Japan and New Zealand, have also suspended their mailing business to the United States due to the upcoming tax policy. (Headquarters reporter Ma Tianjing Sheng Jiadi)
