On the evening of the 26th local time, a new round of nuclear negotiations between Iran and three European countries, Britain, France and Germany, ended in Geneva.
Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Khalibabad said on social media that during the talks, the two sides expressed their views on UN Security Council Resolution 2231.Iran remains committed to seeking a mutually beneficial diplomatic solution through diplomatic channels.“It is time for three European countries and the UN Security Council to make the right choice and give diplomatic time and space.”
According to the Comprehensive Agreement on the Iranian Nuclear Issue signed in 2015, Iran promised to limit its nuclear program and the international community lifted sanctions against Iran. The United Nations Security Council subsequently adopted Resolution 2231, approving the Iran nuclear agreement. The resolution contains a "rapid recovery of sanctions" mechanism that allows signatories to the agreement to take measures to respond to Iran's violations. This mechanism is valid until October 18 this year.
Western countries have recently threatened to activate the "rapid restoration of sanctions" mechanism, demanding that Iran continue to implement the Iran nuclear agreement, including resuming full cooperation with the International Atomic Energy Agency and limiting the scale of nuclear development in accordance with the Iran nuclear agreement. Previously, Iran and three European countries held a round of negotiations in Geneva on July 25. (Reporter from the main station, Li Jianan)
